LEGEND: Conventional thought holds that human abstract thinking began with bead jewelry prod- uction in the Upper Paleolithic of 60,000 years ago. However, that overlooks the evidence of African and other early sculpture as far back as 3 million years ago as much earlier indications of abstract thinking: which also included the mental imaging and simulation of Olduvai Old Stone Age tool manufacture over 2 million years ago.
